My Dad went to the hospital at 5:30 AM this morning. My brother, David, drove him to Medical City in Arlington, Texas. I tried to give him my backpack, incase he needed it. But when i went down this morning, he didn’t take the backpack, it was left unpacked. Oh, well, maybe he didn’t need it. Meanwhile, i went to the VA and got my labs done. Mom messaged me today. i missed a call from Scott Le.
My Dad went to the hospital at 5:30 AM this morning. My brother David drove him to Medical City, Arlington, Texas. My Dad had intestinal surgery. When my brother got to the hospital, he sent me a text with a screen shot of a number and code i could text to in order to get updates. Indeed, i got updates even on when they moved my Dad from the operating room. It all seemed very smooth. My Dad had a tumor he had to have removed. The tumor was in his intestines.

i got to the hospital myself at 12 noon. It took me a moment to find parking, but it was worth it. i got to spend time with my brother in the waiting room. We talked about life, and about the military, and some about what is going on in the world. We drank coffee too. Which i was very much a fan of. The coffee helped me to not nick so badly, as i waited to hear how Dad was doing. My brother had been waiting with my Dad, rather than going to work. i was so proud of my brother for doing this. My brother was called to be in attendance of my Dad.
After my brother left i was alone. So, i wandered around the waiting room for a bit. i found a monitor in the adjourning room, that showed the status of the patient. i guessed that my Dad was RM. For Richard McCarty. The lady at the front desk came over and talked to me. She explained the Doctor would be in. When she went to comment on Dad’s status, i let her know “His procedure is complete”. i also bought a small bag of peanut M&Ms. After i finished my peanut M&Ms and coffee, my brother came back into the waiting room and said it was time to go see Dad.
Although Dad’s procedure was done at Medical City, we had to go over to the Women’s Hospital to see my Dad. They explained, that the only thing we could feed him were ice chips. The first thing Dad said was, “Can you get me some Chick-Fil-A”? i was surprised to see Dad doing so well after his operation. The Doctor who did the operation was from southern India. i guess he did an amazing job. My Dad seemed to be doing well, though he also said, “I feel like I’ve been punched in the gut about 200 times”.
This morning, while my Dad was in his operation, i had to go to the VA. i needed a blood draw. Labs, for my upcoming medical examination. i went ahead and got them, on the recommendation of Dr. Moradi from Mental Health. This time, there was a kiosk. i had to go up to the kiosk and select “Blood Draw” from the list of options. The KIOSK printed out a little sheet of paper, and on it was “L160”. That was my number to be called by the VA for my blood draw. As i waited, i kept getting updates on my Dad’s procedure. First they called me “Now serving L-One-Six-Zero” to Station #1. The lady at the counter asked for my VA card, and gave me my labs. Then, she explained they would call me again, using the same number.
It didn’t take long for the VA to call me again. But while i waited, i noticed they had a TV on. “The VA has a TV”? i thought. So, i wanted to see what was on the television, which i thought i could tell but wasn’t sure. i wandered outside of the waiting area, and kind of passed around for a moment. Then, headed back to the waiting area to find an open seat with a view of the television. They were broadcasting part of Elizabeth II’s funeral on the television. So, i watched that while i waited to be called. i thought it was ironic, i was at the VA Clinic, my Dad was at Medical City, and Queen Elizabeth II was being laid to rest. She will remain at State for four days, proceeding her burial. A convocation was given by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Anyways, once they called me back for my labs i was glad. The lady who did my blood draw welcomed me, and i greeted her. Then, before i knew it, my blood draw was over. i said “Thanks” to both her, and the lady at the front desk. i checked my phone for updates, and headed to the VA’s PatriotCafe where i could get some food. i had turkey sausage and grits. Yum. After i hate, i headed out to the Rodeo. i smoked a cigarette before leaving. Then, i got in the Rodeo and headed home.
Just a little while ago, i heard from my Mom. She texted me about renting a car. She explained it would be expensive. Indeed. It was cheaper to buy and install another alternator, than to rent a car. it was good to hear from Mom. She has been quiet for a several days. But i know she is busy, teaching, and helping Meagan and Jordan with Tate. She hardly gets any rest, at this point.
Last night before bed. Scott called, but i didn’t answer. i was in bed, and ready to sleep. i hope he forgives me. It would have been nice to hear from him. But i know he is busy, so i think he will understand. We are both pretty busy right now. Maybe during the holidays we will get some time together.
Well, that’s how things are going for now. Max is just resting on the bed. i think i am ready to smoke. Ready to publish my post. i don’t have any politics on here today. Other than that i left #EntertheStars Facebook group, because it has turned into an AntiTrump rag. They claim Trump is the anti-Christ. Uh- doesn’t everyone worship the Anti-Christ? Anyways, i was wondering how you are doing. Let me know. Well, i will talk again with you later on.
