Off Today

How are you doing? Good I hope. I am off of work today. Unless they call me in, which causes me to want to take a nap. I ate lunch at Jack-In-The-Box. I had the chicken tenders. They were delicious. I also gave Max a chicken tender. He devoured it.

I also talked with Vicki Walls today. I was so glad to meet this person. We met on Zoom. We just discussed my mental health history. Which means, I am discussing something I do not know much about. Like driving an Audi when I should drive a Honda Civic.

Right now I am watching this YouTube channel, “Answers In Genesis” about the genetic history. It is really good. I feel like I am learning a lot of history from it. The history is genetic, but it is taught by a biologist from Harvard. Of course, it is all rooted in the Bible. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created heaven and earth”.

I’m reading a book. The title is The Flying Tigers by Sam Kleiner. The book is about the American Volunteer Group (AVG) in China before World War II. The AVG, the Flying Tigers, became named this because of the shark mouth painted on there P-40 Fighter planes.

In 1942 the Japanese are rapidly advancing through Asia. The AVG divided into three squadrons. Two went to Kunming, China, and one squadron went to Rangoon, Burma to help keep China’s supply line open. Several quick victories were scored by the AVG in Kunming, where on December 20, 1941, they shot down several Japanese bombers.

The book also contains a mini-Biography of Colonel Chennault. He was born in Eastern Louisiana. When he was growing up, Chennault went fishing and hunting. He learned how to survive in the out doors. He tried going to Louisiana State but because of the ROTC he left the school and never went back. Instead, he got his degree elsewhere. Chennault actually taught school for a semester. After this he increasingly became involved with the Army and flying. What fascinated me most about the Colonel, is that before he began his work in China, he formed Three Men on the Flying Trapeze. It was a stunt gig. I learned about this in one of my classes at UTA.

What about you? have you read any new books lately? Another book, which I got from my Mom, is about the Vietnam War. After I finish this book, I will start that one. Well, today was not so busy so there was not as much to write.
